Home health aides help patients with daily tasks, including:
Personal care, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming Household duties, such as meal preparation and light housekeeping Mobility assistance Checking vital signs and administering prescription medication Replacing sterile bandages and dressings Providing companionship and emotional support Shopping for food and other household requirements Running errands Spending time with the patient for various activities Assisting the patient with exercises Home health aides follow assignments and guidelines.
Home health aides work under the supervision of RNs, PTs, and/or OTs. They may also be responsible for: Documenting patient progress Cleaning the home Washing clothes and linens Shopping Transporting patients to medical appointments Monitoring patient health conditions Taking patient vital signs Managing wound care Making recommendations to family members and healthcare personnel on the plan of care
